A free, AI-assisted online course that gives VET learners, kitchen professionals and food service managers the green and digital skills to cut waste, save resources and run circular kitchens. Choose the professional profile that fits your role.
Every profile covers the same 10 Key Areas of Action, at its own EQF level — 30 learning units in total. Start at your level, or pick a single Key Area if you are already working in the sector.

{{t.req}}One module for each Key Area of Action, with a learning unit at every EQF level. Module titles are working titles — the final titles follow the Food Sector GreenComp Framework, due in January 2028.
A short self-assessment against the Food Sector GreenComp Framework suggests your personal route through the units.
Short videos, illustrated workbooks and interactive H5P activities you can fit around your shifts.
Work-based tasks in your kitchen or placement, reflection checkpoints and real cases from eight countries.
Earn a micro-credential for each Key Area and sit the ISO/IEC 17024-aligned exam for your profile.
The GreenPlate certification is run by ICEP Slovakia, a certification body accredited to ISO/IEC 17024. It validates what you have learned in the MOOC and in your workplace.
The first pilot cohort starts in August 2028 with VET learners; a second cohort for working professionals follows in December 2028. Leave your email and we will tell you when enrolment opens.
Start with the self-assessment. As a guide: Green Kitchen Assistant (EQF 3) suits learners and new kitchen staff, Sustainable Kitchen Technician (EQF 4) experienced cooks and kitchen staff, and Circular Food Service Manager (EQF 5) chefs, supervisors and managers. If you already work in the sector, you can also start with a single Key Area.
Yes. The MOOC is co-funded by the European Union through Erasmus+, so there are no course fees.
Each learning unit takes about 15–20 hours at EQF 3, 20–30 hours at EQF 4 and 25–35 hours at EQF 5, including the workplace tasks. You learn at your own pace, and experienced professionals can fast-track units through recognition of prior learning.
A recommendation engine suggests which units to study next, based on your self-assessment, your quiz results and your role. You can always ignore its suggestions and choose your own order. An AI Ethics Statement, published before the first pilot, explains how it works and what data it uses.
In English and the eight partner languages: Spanish, German, Latvian, Italian, Slovak, Greek, Croatian and Polish.
