How we handle your personal data
We collect as little personal data as possible. This website has no advertising, no analytics and no tracking, and it loads no content from other websites.
Who is responsible
The website is built and run by ACCELERAS KG, Rauhensteingasse 7/18, 1010 Vienna, Austria, on behalf of the GreenPlate consortium. Email: contact@greenplate-alliance.eu. The project is coordinated by GAIA — Asociación de Industrias de Conocimiento y Tecnología, Juan Fermín Gilisagasti 2, 1º, Oficina 115, 20018 Donostia-San Sebastián, Spain.
What we collect, why, and on what legal basis
- Newsletter and MOOC notifications: your email address and the dates of your sign-up and confirmation, to send you GreenPlate news or to tell you when the MOOC opens. You confirm your address with a link we email to you (double opt-in); unconfirmed addresses are deleted after seven days. The newsletter is sent from this website’s own server — no external newsletter service and no tracking of opens or clicks. Every newsletter has a one-click unsubscribe link. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
- Contact form: your name, email address and message, plus — if you give them — your organisation, country, topic and an attached file, to answer your request. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
- Technical data: when you visit the website, our hosting provider’s servers process your IP address, the date and time, the page requested and your browser type in server log files, to deliver the website and keep it secure. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a secure, working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Visits, article views and downloads: when you arrive on the website, open a news article or download a document such as the Food Sector GreenComp Framework, we add one to the matching counter. Only the number of visits to the website, of views per article and of downloads per language version is stored — no personal data.
- Spam protection: to limit the number of form submissions, we store a pseudonymised (hashed) version of your IP address for up to two hours.
- MOOC and certification: the GreenPlate MOOC and the certification exams will run on separate platforms with their own privacy notices, which you see before you register.
How long we keep it
Newsletter and MOOC sign-ups: until you unsubscribe or withdraw your consent — your address is then deleted — and no longer than five years after the project ends. Contact messages: only as long as needed to handle your request and to document the project. Server log files are deleted by the hosting provider after a short period.
Who we share it with
Messages and sign-ups are stored on our web server and sent by email to the project team at ACCELERAS KG and the coordinator GAIA. Where needed to answer your request, we share them with the GreenPlate partner organisations. Our hosting provider, Hostinger International Ltd., processes the data on our behalf. We do not sell personal data or use it for advertising.
Your rights
You can ask for access to your data, its correction or deletion, restrict or object to its use, ask for a copy of it, and withdraw your consent at any time, with effect for the future. Write to contact@greenplate-alliance.eu. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority — in Austria, the Datenschutzbehörde (dsb.gv.at ↗).
No cookies
This website does not set cookies for visitors and does not use analytics, so there is no cookie banner. Only two small items are kept in your own browser, and they are never sent to us:

The website itself sets no cookies.
Fonts are served from this website, not from an external font service. Links to other websites, such as the partners' websites, only take you there when you click them.
Accessibility statement
We want everyone to be able to use this website. It aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA: it can be used with a keyboard and screen readers, works on small screens, uses sufficient colour contrast, and describes images with text alternatives. The GreenPlate MOOC and open learning resources are built to the same standard.
Known limitations
- The website is currently in English. Versions in the eight partner languages — Spanish, German, Latvian, Italian, Slovak, Greek, Croatian and Polish — are being prepared with the help of AI and will be reviewed by the project partners; the English version is the reference.
- Some photos and documents will be added as the project runs. Project documents in PDF may not yet be tagged for screen readers; if you need an accessible version, please contact us and we will help.

If you find a barrier, please tell us at contact@greenplate-alliance.eu. We aim to reply within five working days.
